Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Position Summary

We are looking for an inspiring, people-focused Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead the next chapter of our firm's marketing strategy and operations to drive sustainable growth and strengthen the firm's market position. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CMO will be a strategic and collaborative leader responsible for developing go-to-market strategy and executing integrated marketing initiatives that enhance brand awareness, generate qualified business opportunities, support client and talent acquisition, and improve the overall client experience. The Director of Sales will report to the CMO and will lead dayโ€‘toโ€‘day sales execution, pipeline discipline, sales coaching, and pursuit management; the CMO will set the firmโ€™s growth strategy, establish performance expectations, and hold the integrated marketing and sales organization accountable for results. This is a highโ€‘impact, firmwide role for a strategic leader who can align marketing investments with the firmโ€™s strategic priorities and can blend visionary growth strategy with handsโ€‘on execution. All while thriving in a collaborative, valueโ€‘driven environment where culture and people come first.

Strategic Marketing Leadership
  • Develop and execute an annual marketing strategy aligned with the firm's strategic plan and growth goals.
  • Strengthen the firm's position as a leading accounting and advisory firm through differentiated branding and thought leadership.
  • Partner with firm leadership to identify new markets, industry niches, and service line growth opportunities.
  • Set marketing budgets, priorities, KPIs, and resource plans.
  • Report regularly to executive leadership on marketing performance, business development, and ROI.
Enterprise Growth Strategy and Revenue Leadership
  • Own the firmwide growth strategy, translating objectives into priorities for organic growth, client expansion, crossโ€‘selling, acquisition, market development, partnerships, and service innovation.
  • Partner with the CEO, executive team, and practice leaders to set revenue goals, target markets, ideal client profiles, value propositions, pricing, and goโ€‘toโ€‘market plans.
  • Balance nearโ€‘term conversion with longโ€‘term brand equity, client trust, market relevance, and profitability.
  • Prioritize growth opportunities using market intelligence, client insights, competitive analysis, pipeline data, and financial performance.
  • Lead crossโ€‘functional initiatives such as market entry, new offerings, acquisition integration, referrals, and strategic alliances.
  • Establish a firmwide growth cadence with shared goals, dashboards, forecasts, and accountability across marketing, sales, and practice leadership.
Brand Strategy and Market Positioning
  • Steward the firm's brand identity and consistency across offices, service lines, and channels.
  • Lead brand strategy, messaging, visual identity, employer branding, and market positioning.
  • Oversee public relations, media opportunities, awards, rankings, and recognition programs.
  • Elevate thought leadership through articles, webinars, podcasts, speaking engagements, and industry publications.

  • Ensure the Director of Sales owns daily sales management, training, pipeline reviews, prospecting, followโ€‘up, proposals, opportunity progression, and reporting.
  • Align marketing and sales on definitions, audiences, account priorities, lead handoffs, followโ€‘up standards, and revenue outcomes.
  • Build a repeatable approach to crossโ€‘selling and newโ€‘client acquisition in priority markets.
  • Review pipeline health, conversion, win/loss insights, sales capacity, and forecast accuracy; intervene when needed.
  • Partner with leadership and business development professionals to maintain a disciplined pipeline.
  • Develop lead processes from inquiry through onboarding.
  • Support partners with CRM adoption, opportunity tracking, and business development practices.
Proposal and Pursuit Strategy
  • Lead proposal strategy to deliver compelling, consistent, competitive responses to RFPs and client opportunities.
  • Oversee proposals, presentations, pitch decks, case studies, and collateral.
  • Standardize proposal processes, templates, and content libraries to improve efficiency and win rates.
  • Partner with firm leaders on strategic pursuits, presentations, and competitive positioning.
Team Development
  • Lead and develop a collaborative, innovative, highโ€‘performing marketing team.
  • Set team goals, performance expectations, and development opportunities.
  • Foster accountability, creativity, and service excellence.
  • Manage marketing vendors, agencies, consultants, and partners.
  • Drive operational excellence through process improvement, automation, and project management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience.
  • Experience leading marketing within a professional services organization is strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting, consulting, legal, financial services, or other B2B professional services experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading integrated marketing, digital strategy, and marketing operations. Experience supporting executive leadership and business development initiatives.
  • Proven experience leading and developing marketing professionals.
Technical Expertise

Salary Information:

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the starting base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000 annually + bonus based on performance. This range is a reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and/or education and geographic location. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the capabilities and experience of the candidate. Incentives, if any, depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and firm performance.
