Job description

Join the Team at Elliot Builders
Elliot Builders is a Los Angeles–based construction firm working on high-end residential homes, ground-up construction, and select commercial projects. Since 2019, we’ve been building thoughtfully designed spaces with a deep commitment to craftsmanship, detail, and quality — and just as importantly, to people.
We believe construction can be collaborative, thoughtful, and human-first. We value open communication, accountability, and team members who care about doing great work together. As we continue on a strong growth trajectory, we’re looking for someone who’s excited to grow with us and help shape how we operate behind the scenes.
The Role
We’re looking for a full-time Accounting Associate to lead our Accounts Payable process and support Accounts Receivable — someone who understands construction accounting and enjoys being an integral part of a growing company.
This role is not just transactional. We’re looking for someone who thinks critically, understands job cost structure, and wants to contribute ideas on how we can continue improving our systems and processes as we scale.
What You'll Be Doing
Accounts Payable (Primary Focus):
  • Process vendor and subcontractor invoices
  • Ensure proper approvals and accurate job cost coding
  • Manage weekly check runs / ACH payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Maintain compliance documentation and organized digital records
Accounts Receivable (Support):
  • Assist with client invoicing and progress billings
  • Track incoming payments and maintain AR aging
  • Support follow-up on outstanding balances
Construction Accounting Responsibilities:
  • Work within and help maintain our Chart of Accounts
  • Support and understand WIP (Work in Progress) reporting
  • Ensure accurate use of cost codes and job cost tracking
  • Collaborate with project managers to align budgets, commitments, and actuals
Growth & Process Improvement:
  • Provide feedback based on prior experience
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reporting
  • Bring critical thinking to our current systems and help refine them
  • Contribute to building scalable financial processes as we grow
What We're Looking For:
  • 1 year minimum construction accounting experience (required)
  • Hands-on experience with Chart of Accounts, WIP reporting, and cost codes
  • Strong Accounts Payable background
  • Familiarity with construction or accounting software
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Clear communicator who enjoys collaborating with project teams
  • Someone excited about growth — both personally and as a company
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who doesn’t just want a job — but wants to help build something. We’re on a tremendous growth path, and we value team members who want to contribute ideas, strengthen systems, and be part of shaping the future of Elliot Builders.
What It's Like to Work Here:
We take pride in our work, but we don’t operate with ego or red tape. At Elliot Builders, you’ll find:
  • Open dialogue and approachability
  • A team that supports each other
  • High standards paired with mutual respect
  • Leadership that values input and initiative
  • Real opportunity to grow with the company
Perks & Benefits:
  • 40 hours of Sick Time
  • 10 Paid Holidays, including a Holiday Shutdown (December 24 – January 1)
  • Additional PTO accrued per pay period after introductory period
    • Years 1–3: 3.0769 hours accrued per pay period
  • $25 Monthly Phone Stipend
  • Access to Elliot Builders software programs
  • A collaborative, growing team that values your contributions
If you're experienced in construction accounting and excited about helping build strong financial foundations for a company on the rise, we'd love to connect.
