Job description

Southern Chicago Restaurant is seeking a highly capable, hospitality-driven General Manager to lead daily operations at one of Chicago’s growing dining destinations.

We are looking for a strong leader who understands elevated hospitality, team accountability, guest experience, financial oversight, and high-volume restaurant operations. The ideal candidate can balance professionalism and warmth while maintaining standards across service, staffing, culture, and execution.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The General Manager will work closely with ownership and department leaders to ensure operational excellence across all areas of the restaurant.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all day-to-day restaurant operations
  • Lead, coach, and develop FOH and BOH management teams
  • Maintain exceptional guest experience standards
  • Monitor labor, scheduling, payroll, and staffing needs
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and disciplinary processes
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, liquor, and labor regulations
  • Manage service flow and operational efficiency during peak periods
  • Address guest concerns and resolve escalated situations professionally
  • Collaborate with ownership on operational strategy and growth
  • Maintain accountability, professionalism, and culture throughout the organization
  • Ensure consistency in service standards, cleanliness, presentation, and staff conduct
  • Assist with vendor relationships, ordering oversight, and inventory controls
  • Monitor reporting, cash handling, and financial performance metrics
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of restaurant management experience in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of high-volume hospitality operations
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Experience managing staff accountability and performance
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in fast-paced environments
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with Toast POS, scheduling platforms, and payroll systems preferred
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Professional appearance and demeanor required
