WFTV Channel 9 Eyewitness News is seeking an experienced and strategic Executive Producer, Special Projects to lead the development and execution of high-impact, enterprise-driven content across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. This role is responsible for identifying, producing, and overseeing in-depth storytelling that advances the station's commitment to investigative journalism, community impact, and audience growth.

The Executive Producer will collaborate across departments to ensure alignment with organizational priorities while maintaining the highest standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and storytelling excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of special projects, including investigative reports, franchise segments, and long-form storytelling initiatives
  • Identify and prioritize enterprise story opportunities that align with newsroom goals and audience interests
  • Supervise and mentor reporters, producers, photographers, and multi-platform journalists assigned to special projects
  • Establish clear editorial direction, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on schedule and at a high level of quality
  • Collaborate with newsroom leadership, legal, and standards teams to ensure compliance with journalistic and company policies
  • Oversee the integration of special projects across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms to maximize reach and engagement
  • Partner with digital and social teams to develop strategies that extend the lifecycle and impact of special content
  • Track performance metrics and audience engagement to inform future content decisions
Minimum Qualifications
  • Newsroom experience, including leadership roles in producing or managing enterprise and investigative content
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex editorial projects from concept through execution
  • Strong editorial judgment and commitment to ethical journalism standards
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management abilities
  • Familiarity with legal considerations related to investigative and enterprise reporting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in investigative journalism or long-form storytelling
  • Strong understanding of digital analytics and audience engagement strategies
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and multi-platform workflows
  • Experience with grant-funded or partnership-driven journalism initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred
