Job description

JOB SUMMARY

NOW CFO is seeking an accomplished and hands-on CFO Consultant to serve a dynamic portfolio of companies throughout the Denver, Colorado market. This is a high-impact role demanding deep operational accounting expertise, buy-side M&A transactional experience, and the ability to navigate complex international financial environments. The ideal candidate has led finance functions from the ground up, is equally comfortable closing the books as presenting to a board, and brings a global perspective to every engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take direct, hands-on ownership of accounting operations — including month-end close, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and audit readiness — while designing and enforcing financial policies and internal controls that ensure GAAP and regulatory compliance
  • Lead buy-side M&A activity from target identification through post-close integration, encompassing financial due diligence, valuation and LBO modeling, quality-of-earnings analysis, and systems consolidation
  • Manage multi-entity consolidations for clients with global footprints, navigate cross-border compliance (transfer pricing, foreign currency translation, VAT/GST, and local statutory requirements), and support international market expansion
  • Serve as a strategic partner to CEOs, boards, and investors; drive budgeting and long-range planning; mentor finance teams; and lead ERP and data analytics initiatives that sharpen financial visibility and decision-making

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • CPA required; MBA strongly preferred, with 12+ years of progressive financial leadership, including at least 5 years in a CFO or VP of Finance capacity
  • Demonstrated hands-on accounting experience — candidates must have personally managed close processes, prepared financial statements, and maintained ledgers, not solely supervised others
  • Proven buy-side M&A track record with direct experience leading financial due diligence, valuation and LBO modeling, quality-of-earnings analysis, and post-close integration
  • Substantive international finance experience, including multi-currency consolidations, foreign subsidiary management, transfer pricing, and cross-border regulatory compliance
  • Expert-level knowledge of GAAP, advanced financial modeling skills in Excel, and ERP proficiency (NetSuite, SAP, or equivalent); working knowledge of IFRS is a strong plus

Preferred

  • Experience in a consulting or fractional CFO environment serving multiple clients concurrently
  • Exposure to private equity-backed companies and investor reporting requirements
  • Background in industries with complex revenue recognition, inventory management, or project accounting
  • Experience with data analytics tools and technology integration within finance functions
  • Diverse industry experience across sectors such as manufacturing, technology, healthcare, or distribution

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Compensation: $95–$110/hr, commensurate with experience
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement savings plan with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Professional development and continuing education support
  • Flexible work arrangements to support work-life balance
