We embrace technological advancements and value lessons learned over 55 years of unique operating experience.ย  AVEC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team to drive our financial strategy and ensure sustainability.

As the CFO at AVEC, each day presents fresh opportunities to leave a lasting impact on our operations and communities. Your role will be instrumental in steering our organization towards greater efficiency, dynamism, and collaborations. You will champion the financial health of the Cooperative through management, monitoring, and safeguarding of all financial assets and building a team of effective and efficient employees.

The responsibilities of the CFO encompass a wide array of financial leadership tasks, including employee and departmental management, short- and long-range financial planning, forecasting, debt financing, cash and working capital strategies, investments, insurance management, internal and external audits, financial reporting, analysis, accounts receivable and payable, and tax management. The CFO supervises the Accounting and Purchasing departments and works closely to monitor and support other departments' responsibilities for payroll, grant accounting, billing and warehouse operations.ย 

AVEC recently converted its ERP to NISC software for financial and service modules and is in the process of implementing mapping and staking and outage management.

The ideal CFO should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration. Master's degree or certification preferred (MBA, MAcc, CMA, or CPA).
  • 2+ years supervisory experience or demonstrated success in leading individuals and teams.
  • 5+ years of verifiable experience in finance and accounting in senior leadership (CFO, Controller); in public accounting; as an external auditor; or experience within an electric utility reporting directly to the CFO or equivalent.
  • Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to the utility sector.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Rewards:

We offer a comprehensive pay and benefit package. Highlights include starting pay expected between $156,520 and $197,801 annually. 401K Plan with Employer Match of 4% and Retirement Pension Plan (Defined Benefit, Employer paid pension). Paid leave (PTO) starting at 21 days per year and up to 6 weeks maximum. We also offer 8 paid Holidays plus 2 Floating Holidays and a Birthday Holiday.

Work environment: Our office in Anchorage is located in midtown at 4831 Eagle Street with off-street parking and a beautiful view of the mountains.

Schedule flexibility: We offer flexibility in start/end time between 7am to 5pm. This is full time, in-person work. We offer flexibility for work-life balance including a 9/80 schedule (eligibility after 6 months).
