Job description

Job Description: Director of Cardiovascular Services

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Director of Cardiovascular Services to lead the effective operation and growth of the cardiovascular service line. The Director will be responsible for achieving organizational goals and objectives, ensuring high levels of patient satisfaction, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Coordination: Guide, direct, and plan the organization and coordination of cardiovascular department activities. Demonstrate effectiveness in selecting and developing staff for career advancement.
  • Operational Management: Administer and analyze goals and objectives for the cardiovascular service line. Prepare and manage the departmental budget, ensuring alignment with approved net margin and organizational goals.
  • Quality Improvement: Demonstrate understanding of Process Improvement and promote the systematic assessment and improvement of performance. Continuously assess and improve the performance of cardiovascular care and services.
  • Employee Development: Provide continuous employee assessment with timely written evaluations. Motivate employees, initiate progressive disciplinary action when necessary, and keep turnover at an acceptable level.
  • Committee Participation: Actively participate in Hospital and Departmental committees, focusing on improving the quality of patient care services. Conduct monthly department meetings to keep staff informed and ensure a complete flow of information.
  • Compliance and Safety: Comply with hospital/departmental policies and procedures, regulatory/accrediting agencies, and safety protocols. Ensure staff attends required/mandatory in-services and receives continuing education.
  • Patient-Centric Approach: Participate in providing patient-specific care standards and follow service excellence standards. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients and families served in relation to growth and development over the life span.
Qualifications:
  • Education: BSN required.
  • License/Certifications: Current Texas Registered Nursing license or identified compact state license, BCLS.
  • Experience: 5+ years of cardiovascular services management.
Ideal Candidate:

An experienced leader with a proven track record in growing cardiovascular service lines, including Cardiac-Medical, Imaging, EMS/ED/CL workflows, HF, Nursing Ed, Cardiac Rehab, Cath lab, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular-Procedural, and Screenings. The ideal candidate should have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and work effectively with teams, providers, and the leadership team. Ability to coach and grow managers is essential.

Additional Information:
  • FTE: 32-35
  • Oversight: 5 departments, including Cath Lab, IR Labs, CDR Prep and Recovery, Echo Lab, and Cardiopulmonary Rehab.
  • Patient Population: Neonatal ICU, Adult.
  • Engagement Scores: 73% Overall Departments EE (Cath Lab, CDR Prep and Recovery, Echo, Cardiopulmonary Rehab).
  • Contract Labor: No contract labor in Cath Lab.
  • Procedures/Day: M-F 24/7 STEMI and Stroke Call (Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center).
  • Staff Shifts: 7:00-3:30 PM, Full-Time Days, No Weekends.
