Many employers prefer candidates with experience in transcription, closed captioning, or related fields, and some may require certification or training in captioning standards. What Does a Caption Writer Do?

Caption writers transcribe the words spoken in television shows and movies. These stenotyping services provide closed-captioning for the hearing impaired or translations for foreign films. You utilize stenotype machines with shorthand keys that accelerate your typing speed to give accurate transcriptions for the audience. Your captioned words help programming stations follow the requirements set forth by the Federal Communications Commission. You may work on previously recorded material, which allows you to repeat scenes and review your work to ensure accuracy, or you may transcribe live broadcasts to document everything that is said in real-time.

How does a Caption Writer collaborate with video editors and content creators during the production process?

Caption Writers typically work closely with video editors and content creators to ensure captions accurately reflect spoken dialogue, sound effects, and important on-screen text. Communication is key—Caption Writers often review scripts, clarify unclear audio, and adjust caption timing to match the video's pacing. This collaboration helps maintain the video's accessibility and enhances viewer engagement. Effective teamwork ensures captions are delivered on schedule and meet quality standards required for broadcast or digital platforms.

Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work under tight deadlines are standout soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities ensure accurate, engaging, and accessible captions that enhance content reach and viewer comprehension.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Media Manager is responsible for building and growing ProCaps Laboratories’ organic social media presence and supporting paid social execution across Instagram and Facebook. This is a foundational role — the first dedicated social hire — and is expected to establish content rhythms, community engagement practices, reporting frameworks, and the systems needed to scale ProCaps’ social channels over time.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on executor who writes well, understands brand voice, and can direct creative teams to produce content that performs. They are comfortable managing community engagement, reading performance data, creating content when needed, and coordinating closely with the DTC & Performance Marketing Manager on paid social execution. As the brand grows into TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, and LinkedIn, this person will help evaluate, prioritize, and lead that expansion.

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING (MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Bachelor's Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
  • 3-6 years of experience in social media marketing with hands-on channel management
  • Demonstrated experience growing an Instagram presence - organic and paid
  • Experience managing or supporting founder-led, executive, practitioner, or personality-driven social media accounts
  • Comfortable directing creative teams for content production
  • Strong community management skills with a customer-first mindset
  • Analytical — able to read platform data and translate it into content decisions
  • Experience using social scheduling, analytics, or social media management platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nutraceuticals, supplements, functional food, wellness, or healthcare-adjacent brands
  • Experience sourcing, briefing, and managing creators and/or UGC content
  • Familiarity with TikTok, Reddit community management, YouTube content strategy, or LinkedIn employer branding
  • Experience working in regulated industries with content compliance considerations
  • Familiarity with tools such as Meta Business Suite, Meta Ads Manager, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later, Canva, Google Analytics, or similar platforms

SUCCESS METRICS

  • Success in this role will be measured by:
  • Consistent execution of the content calendar and publishing cadence
  • Growth in social audience size and engagement rates
  • Quality and responsiveness of community management
  • Growth and performance of founder-led content initiatives
  • Improvement in organic reach and content engagement
  • Contribution of social media traffic and engagement to broader marketing objectives
  • Establishment of scalable social media processes, reporting frameworks, and operating standards

  • Manage community engagement — respond to DMs, comments, and mentions in a timely, on-brand manner
  • Develop and maintain a consistent posting cadence with a mix of educational, promotional, and community-driven content
  • Monitor social conversations, audience sentiment, competitor activity, and emerging wellness trends to identify content opportunities and customer insights

Paid Social Execution

  • Support the DTC & Performance Marketing Manager in executing paid social campaigns on Meta (Instagram and Facebook)
  • Propose paid social creative concepts and audience ideas informed by organic performance data
  • Monitor and report on paid social performance within platforms; surface insights to the DTC Manager
  • Ensure paid social creative is aligned with organic brand voice and content standards

Founder Content & Brand Voice
