Role Overview

The Capex Global Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing category strategies for capital expenditures, including capital equipment, engineered systems, construction services, and major infrastructure projects. This role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Project Management, and Finance to ensure optimal supplier selection, commercial terms, and total cost of ownership across Capex investments.

This individual will identify strategic suppliers in the power generation equipment space and lead crossfunctional evaluations to determine the best overall supplier products and services for Mitsubishi Power turbine solutions. While the primary focus is Capexrelated commodities, additional sourcing responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain multiyear category strategies for Capex commodities aligned with business growth, asset lifecycle, and project pipelines
  • Segment spend by equipment type, technology, region, and supplier market dynamics
  • Identify cost reduction and value creation opportunities across capital projects
  • Develop and manage relationships with advanced technology suppliers in the power generation equipment space
  • Lead supplier evaluations with crossfunctional teams, including technical, manufacturing capacity, quality, cost competitiveness, risk, and IP considerations
  • Serve as key liaison between suppliers, Mitsubishi project, engineering, service teams, and EPC partners
  • Analyze market research, spend data, supplier performance, and stakeholder input to inform sourcing decisions and commodity plans
  • Communicate recommendations clearly to stakeholders using dashboards and datadriven insights
  • Implement costout initiatives and drive standardization
  • Negotiate contracts and manage ongoing supplier relationships to achieve optimal commercial outcomes
  • Identify qualified vendors for highly technical Capex commodities
  • Review longrange forecasts and usage cycles to inform procurement strategies
  • Perform total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis for capital investments
  • Identify supply chain, commercial, and delivery risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Support capital authorization requests with sourcing and cost validation inputs
  • Drive supplier development, relationship management, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve sourcing objectives
  • Lead and drive category performance, including KPI tracking and supplier performance management
  • Present category strategies and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Conduct supply chain risk analysis and develop mitigation plans
  • Represent Mitsubishi Power in supplier negotiations and policy development
  • Monitor supplier production capacity and establish buyer capacity plans
  • Support Buyers and Supply Chain teams in resolving conflicts
  • Develop and evaluate complex commercial and technical bids
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Perform other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills & Education

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (MBA preferred) with four (4) years of supply chain experience, or eight (8) years of supply chain experience with a specialty in commodities management, or an equivalent combination. Demonstrated experience negotiating highvalue capital equipment and project contracts. Strong understanding of EPC, OEM, construction supplier models, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, engineering drawings, specifications, and regulations. Ability to write reports and present information effectively.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate discounts, percentages, proportions, and apply basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Management Skills: Ability to communicate goals and projects effectively and manage or delegate work as needed.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to industrial environments requiring PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, hearing and fall protection.
