Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced IT Capacity Manager to provide end-to-end capacity, performance, and resiliency leadership across a major technology portfolio. This senior individual contributor will be responsible for ensuring critical enterprise platforms maintain the capacity, scalability, availability, and resiliency required to support business operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in hybrid infrastructure, cloud architecture, capacity planning, disaster recovery, performance engineering, infrastructure architecture, and ITIL-based service management.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead capacity planning and performance engineering across distributed infrastructure, VMware ESX environments, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and public cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Monitor enterprise infrastructure using observability, telemetry, and application performance monitoring (APM) tools to identify capacity constraints, performance bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.
• Develop and maintain enterprise capacity strategies supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Ensure infrastructure capacity aligns with business continuity, resiliency, and disaster recovery (DR) requirements, including active-active and active-passive architectures.
• Validate infrastructure readiness for disaster recovery testing, failover scenarios, and regulatory resiliency requirements, including RTO and RPO objectives.
• Influence platform architecture and infrastructure design to improve scalability, high availability, performance, and resiliency.
• Develop multi-year capacity forecasts based on business growth, technology modernization initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
• Build predictive models for compute, storage, network, virtualization, and container resource utilization.
• Translate business demand into infrastructure capacity requirements and strategic investment recommendations.
• Lead hardware reclamation initiatives by identifying underutilized, end-of-life, or decommissioned infrastructure assets.
• Partner with infrastructure and data center operations teams to optimize asset lifecycle management, hardware reuse, retirement, and sustainability initiatives.
• Maintain accurate enterprise capacity inventories and ensure hardware reclamation activities align with governance and risk management standards.
• Identify infrastructure capacity risks, systemic performance issues, and operational constraints while driving remediation efforts with engineering and operations teams.
• Support incident and problem management by performing technical analysis of capacity and performance-related issues.
• Own ITIL-aligned Capacity and Performance Management processes for the assigned technology portfolio.
• Prepare executive-level dashboards, capacity reports, health assessments, and risk summaries for senior technology leadership.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, operational risk, and governance requirements.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Finance, Engineering, Cloud Operations, and Technology Operations teams on capacity optimization, cloud strategy, lifecycle planning, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams while influencing architecture, resiliency, and cloud strategy decisions.
• Work within Agile delivery environments and provide leadership across Agile teams.
Required Qualifications
• Extensive experience in IT Capacity Management, Performance Engineering, and Infrastructure Architecture within large enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud architecture and hybrid cloud environments.
• Expertise in enterprise capacity planning and performance management.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift container platforms.
• Experience with VMware ESX, virtualized infrastructure, and distributed computing environments.
• Strong understanding of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery (DR), and enterprise resiliency strategies.
• Experience designing scalable, highly available, and resilient infrastructure solutions.
• Experience developing long-term infrastructure capacity forecasts and predictive resource utilization models.
• Knowledge of hardware lifecycle management, asset reclamation, and infrastructure optimization practices.
• Experience with enterprise observability, telemetry, and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools.
• Strong understanding of ITIL service management principles and Capacity Management processes.
• Experience supporting Linux, Windows, cloud-native, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, Finance, and Cloud teams.
• Experience working in Agile environments and leading technical initiatives across Agile teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with storage replication, multi-site failover, workload mobility, and enterprise resiliency testing.
• Experience supporting regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and operational risk initiatives.
• Experience with infrastructure cost optimization, rightsizing, and capacity governance within large enterprise environments.
