Job description

Business Development Manager position in a freight forwarding company. Candidates must have sales experience in the same field.

  • Direct Hire / Exempt
  • $75,000 - $120,000 (DOE) + commission
  • Compton, CA
  • Resides in the area where they will be able to attend meetings once a week in the Compton office
  • Must have sales experience in the freight forwarding industries

Requirements of the Business Development Manager:

  • Sales experience in freight forwarding
  • Proven track record of:
  • Bringing in new clients
  • Closing shipping deals
  • Meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Industry knowledge
  • Strong ability to prospect (find new customers), cold call/email, build long-term relationships, negotiate pricing, close deals
  • Good communication (phone, email, in-person)
  • Customer-focused mindset
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Organized and able to manage multiple clients
  • Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, experience with logistics software
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must adhere to TSA (Transportation Security Administration) regulations and compliance standards

Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:

  • Find and develop relationships with new customers
  • Call, email, or visit companies to offer shipping services
  • Give price quotes for freight (air, ocean, trucking, warehousing)
  • Work with the operations team to arrange shipments
  • Follow up with customers and keep relationships strong
  • Negotiate rates and close deals
  • Track shipments and help solve customer issues
  • Other related duties will be assigned
