With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. Pepper Construction provides clients the experience and resources of a national company, combined with the hands-on approach of a local company.
The Manager, Business Development, works to improve the company's market position in the Madison, Wisconsin area and achieve sustainable revenue growth. This externally focused position reports to the location's project director and is a strategic sales and business development role focused on generating business opportunities, building key customer relationships, contributing to project pursuit efforts and maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions. The Manager, Business Development will work closely with operational business leaders, marketing production staff and others to increase sales opportunities and successfully land project pursuits contributing to increased market share in Madison, Wisconsin.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop relationships that generate sales opportunities to achieve business goals
  • Ensures that the company is presented with optimum business opportunities to achieve targeted business growth objectives
  • Proactively develops and implements annual marketing plan for the office and market sectors of responsibility to support the overall revenue goal
  • Attend sales meetings with senior leadership to communicate status on sales prospects and activity while supporting business plan
  • Attends business development meetings for coordination and communication of lead generation, and collaborates with business development staff from other subsidiaries as appropriate
  • Coordinates and tracks client and market input into customer tracking database
  • Participates in and takes a leadership role with appropriate organizations, meetings and events to expand and build networks and alliances
  • Works closely with Pepper marketing team and group leaders during preparation of qualifications, proposals and presentations, providing key client insight and strategy and ensuring a high quality, complete product
  • Works closely with the Pepper communications team regarding client activities and client exit interviews tailoring to the local market
  • Monitors customer satisfaction with company services and personnel

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent communication skills and abilities to collaborate cross-functionally are required
  • Selected candidate must have passion for Madison area with knowledge of commercial construction trends
  • Bachelor's degree with AEC or Business emphasis preferred
  • 10 years of experience in the commercial construction industry or 7 years of experience in business development or comparable role
  • This is a salaried position and is non-commissionable
