Description
Runaway Train Brewery is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Sales Associate to grow the market presence of Runaway Train Brewery and the Declaration Beer Project. This individual will be responsible for developing new on-premise and off-premise accounts, strengthening relationships with existing customers, collaborating closely with our beer distributor, and serving as the communication link between the marketplace and our brewhouse.
The ideal candidate is passionate about craft beer, thrives in a sales environment, enjoys building long-term partnerships, and takes pride in representing a locally crafted brand with a compelling story.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
  • Prospect and secure new retail, restaurant, bar, hotel, and specialty beverage accounts.
  • Increase sales volume and distribution throughout assigned territories.
  • Identify opportunities for seasonal, limited-release, and flagship brands.
  • Execute sales plans to achieve monthly and annual growth objectives.

Account Management
  • Maintain regular contact with existing customers to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct scheduled account visits to ensure product quality, merchandising, and brand visibility.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Recommend product mix, promotions, and seasonal offerings.

Distributor Partnership
  • Work closely with the brewery's distributor sales representatives to identify growth opportunities.
  • Participate in ride-withs, market visits, and account calls.
  • Assist with distributor training and product education.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper product availability.

Brand Ambassador
  • Represent Runaway Train Brewery at festivals, tastings, tap takeovers, community events, and promotional activities.
  • Educate customers on brewery history, brewing process, and beer styles.
  • Build enthusiasm around new product launches and special releases.

Brewhouse Liaison
  • Provide timely market feedback to the brewing team regarding customer preferences and emerging trends.
  • Communicate packaging, inventory, and seasonal demand forecasts.
  • Relay customer feedback on beer quality, packaging, and new product ideas.
  • Coordinate with brewery operations to support sales initiatives.

Marketing Support
  • Ensure point-of-sale materials are properly displayed.
  • Assist in executing promotions and social media initiatives.
  • Identify local sponsorship and partnership opportunities that strengthen the Declaration Beer Project brand.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of beverage, brewery, wine, spirits, hospitality, or outside sales experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Comfortable using CRM software and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
  • Evening and weekend availability for events as needed.
  • Existing relationships within restaurants, bars, liquor stores, grocery retailers, or hospitality businesses.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania beer distribution and three-tier sales system.
  • Passion for craft beer and local brewing.
