Job description

JOB SUMMARY  

Must cook food to order, prepare ingredient items, maintain proper sanitation of fry line, refrigeration, freezer units, dry storage, and do some stocking. Must present food to order adhering to company food preparation and timing standards.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must ensure guest satisfaction by proper plate presentation and cooking to Denny’s  specifications and guest preference.
  • Must immediately inform management of any safety hazards, equipment problems  and out of stock items.
  • Prepare ingredient items to recipe and company standards.
  • All food prepared must adhere to company standards and be presented in a timely manner.
  • Learn and adhere to all company standards (such as proper food storage, rotation, portioning and temperatures) and policies (such as reporting to work on time, dress code and proper hygiene).
  • Maintain proper fry line sanitation at all times, including moving, disassembling and reassemble of equipment as needed.
  • Must complete all required paperwork, side-work, stocking, daily cleaning tasks and any other assigned duties in a safe manner before ending shift.
  • Must be able to handle peak business hours.
  • Smile and present a professional image at all times.
  • Adhere to all safety standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive standing during shift
  • Reaching heights of approximately 6 feet and depths of 21/2 to 3 feet
  • Must have high level of mobility/flexibility
  • Must be able to fit through openings 30” wide
  • Must be able to work irregular hours and under heavy pressure/stress

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Must have 2 years of experience as cook.
  • Must be able to read, write and possess good communication skills.  
  • Must be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, some heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. 
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to move and operate in work area.
  • Must practice safe work habits and be in contact with chemicals and have knowledge of chemicals.
  • Must meet any state, county or municipal regulations pertaining to health risk concerns about food handling.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have some basic math skills including understanding of units of measure.
  • Must have proper hygiene and maintain a clean and safe environment for cooking foods at company standards.
  • Must complete all video and Ignite training, anti-discrimination & anti-harassment training and comply with Denny’s nondiscrimination policies.
