JOB SUMMARY:

Prepares food and serves customers at hot station in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and company/client standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

Responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking a variety of foods, monitoring the temperature to ensure food is cooked safely, plate food in an attractive manner, and throughout and after shift maintain cleanliness. Cleanliness is of utmost importance in the kitchen, and all cooks are responsible for making sure customers stay healthy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
• Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items.
• Uses established ticket collection procedures during service. Responsible for records from area worked during service periods.
• Prepare and serve food items from an action station.
• Working knowledge of flat top grill, fryer, heated display shelves, combi oven, steam kettles, tilt skillet, meat slicer etc.
• Prepares ingredients, sauces, and other ingredients for recipes.
• Prepares grab and go items - sandwiches, wraps, salads, vegetables, fruit, yogurt, desserts etc.
• Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
• Clean are as you go - properly wash and sanitize all work surfaces, sweep and mop floors, maintain sanitation of refrigeration and equipment.
• Keeps refrigerators, walk-ins, dishroom, storerooms, floors and counters clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per food safety standards.
• Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the Dining Facility Manager immediately.
• Attends all safety meetings.
• Operates manual pallet jack, unloads food and beverage deliveries to proper storage areas throughout the week while following FIFO procedures.
• Assist in the dishroom throughout the shift to support business needs.
• Properly wears uniform, disposable gloves, cut gloves, hat, hair net, apron, non-slip shoes and all other items to ensure a safe food environment.
• Maintains good working professional relationship with coworkers, customers, administrator, and managers.
• Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Follow written, verbal instructions and recipes.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
• High School graduate, or GED required.
• Must have solid work ethics and punctuality.
• Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills.
• Must have reliable means of transportation (public or private)
• Must have reliable means of communication (i.e., phone)
• Must have legal right to work in the United States
• Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English.
• Must be willing to participate in the company's pre-employment screening process, including background investigation, if applicable.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION

ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals. Ability
to write accurately. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, visitors, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, employees and client representatives.

EXPERIENCE

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying:
One year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
