Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Trademark Associate with 4โ€“7 years of experience to join a nationally recognized Intellectual Property practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney looking to work on sophisticated domestic and international trademark matters, including global brand protection, trademark portfolio management, enforcement, licensing, and litigation.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing complex trademark portfolios and advising clients on brand strategy and protection across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain complex U.S. and international trademark portfolios
  • Advise clients on global brand protection strategies
  • Conduct trademark clearance reviews and risk assessments
  • Prepare and prosecute trademark applications in the United States and internationally
  • Draft and negotiate trademark licensing agreements
  • Handle trademark enforcement matters, including:
    • Cease and desist letters
    • Notice-and-takedown procedures
    • TTAB proceedings
    • Foreign oppositions
    • UDRP disputes
    • Federal trademark litigation
  • Develop and implement trademark protection and enforcement strategies
  • Collaborate with clients and international counsel on worldwide brand protection matters
Qualifications
  • 4โ€“7 years of trademark law experience
  • Significant experience with:
    • Trademark counseling
    • Trademark prosecution
    • Trademark clearance
    • Brand protection strategies
    • Trademark licensing
    • Trademark enforcement
  • Experience managing domestic and international trademark portfolios
  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and docket management abilities
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced global practice and complex workload
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills
  • Outstanding client service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong academic credentials from an accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in the state where the candidate will reside
Compensation & Benefits
  • For Cleveland and Denver, the expected salary range is $225,000 โ€“ $260,000
  • For Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, and Seattle, the expected salary range is $285,000 โ€“ $370,000
  • Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic market, and other relevant factors
