Job description

General Summary:
The Boring Mill Operator is responsible for operating a Boring Mill (Manual or CNC).  Must have a strong understanding of machining practices, precision measurements, and ability to read mechanical drawings. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Set up and operate manual and/or CNC boring mills. 
  • Machine large and heavy components to precise specifications. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and machining instructions. 
  • Perform accurate measurements using precision measuring tools. 
  • Inspect finished work to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. 
  • Troubleshot machining and setup issues as needed. 
  • Coordinate with programmers to improve efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED.  5+ years of CNC or Manual Boring Mill or related machining experience.  Experience in the Heavy equipment manufacturing industry preferred. 

Physical Requirements: Lifting a maximum of 40 pounds regularly. This job requires extensive amounts of walking, standing, and sitting.
