Union Gospel Mission Position Description

      

POSITION TITLE: Men’s LifeChange Program Coordinator (bilingual)

REPORTS TO: Senior Recovery Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

LOCATION: 3 NW Third Ave Portland OR 97209

STATUS: Part-time, 30 hours a week

WAGE: $24 per hour

 

OVERALL POSITION DESCRIPTION:         

This role provides spiritual leadership, coaching, teaching, and program oversight to support men in LifeChange as they grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and progress toward successful program completion and long-term life transformation. The position will work mainly evenings and weekends. The Coordinator will be bilingual and work with Spanish and English-speaking residents.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide one-on-one counseling and coaching to program participants.
  • Coordinate and lead spiritual, recovery and leadership classes.
  • Mentor and guide participants through the Genesis Process.
  • Support the Intake Coordinator to recruit and screen residential program candidates.
  • Take the lead on intake screening as needed.
  • Teach Master Life and Genesis classes and other assigned recovery-related courses.
  • Coach and teach Christ-centered life skills that support long-term recovery and discipleship.
  • Communicate regularly with Ministry leadership, Servant Leaders, workplace supervisors, and Self-Discovery leaders to ensure residents’ overall health, accountability, and progress.
  • Coordinate volunteers to lead and teach classes and support LifeChange men.
  • Work closely with Recovery Coordinators and Manager to support all men in LifeChange Programs.
  • Track participant progress and completion of goals.
  • Celebrate residents’ milestones and recognize growth and excellence in recovery.
  • Identify emerging resident leaders and provide opportunities for leadership development within the Men’s LifeChange Programs (Pillars, work therapy leadership, recovery program leadership, church leadership, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including regular updates to Mission Tracker and progress notes in OneDrive.

  • Assess and support participants’ personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Encourage men to grow in their walk with the Lord and deepen their faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Facilitate successful completion of men who are the position’s care.
  • Disciple men to live faithful, productive, and successful lives.
  • Develop resident leaders who model Christ-centered character and servant leadership.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a strong personal faith.
  • Actively involved in a local Christian church community.
  • Bilingual Spanish/ English.
  • Strong alignment with the philosophy, mission, and values of Union Gospel Mission.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or counseling individuals.
  • Experience working with individuals struggling with addiction and recovery.
  • Drug and alcohol education or relevant recovery ministry experience preferred.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized, teachable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond well to changing needs.
  • Demonstrates a balance of accountability and compassion (“tough but tender”).
  • Passion for ministry and a heart to lead men toward life transformation in Christ.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • A criminal history and background check are required and must be successfully completed
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks as assigned
  • Ability to transport residents, must have a valid driver’s license and insurance
