Main Function

The BI Developer is a key member of the Data Analytics team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade Power BI reporting and semantic models that support all lines of the business. This role sits at the intersection of business intelligence, data modeling, and analytics engineering, translating curated data from our Azure / Databricks platform into trusted, performant, and well-governed reporting solutions.

This position emphasizes dashboard development, DAX, Power BI semantic modeling, paginated reporting, and disciplined change management.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Reporting & Visualization

  • Create, optimize, and document DAX measures for complex business logic and KPI definitions
  • Add and manage calculated columns, calculated tables, relationships, and role-based logic where appropriate
  • Ensure metric consistency and accuracy across dashboards and reporting layers

Development Workflow & Deployment

  • Use Tabular Editor to manage model metadata, calculations, and advanced modeling features
  • Leverage Azure DevOps (ADO) for work management, including Boards, Stories, and Tasks
  • Participate in Git-based development workflows including branch management and pull requests
  • Collaborate with IT on deployment standards and release processes

Project Management & Delivery Ownership

  • Own the full project lifecycle from intake through final signโ€‘off, serving as the single point of accountability throughout execution
  • Develop and manage project plans, including timelines, milestones, dependencies, and delivery sequencing
  • Ensure projects progress through defined review, validation, testing, and approval stages
  • Lead formal sign-off processes, validating that deliverables meet agreed upon requirements and SOW commitments

Technical Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a technical or quantitative field (Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or similar)
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or BI Development roles
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Power BI, including:
    • Dashboard and paginated report development
    • DAX development and performance tuning
    • Semantic model design
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and star schema design
  • Experience using Tabular Editor for model development
  • Familiarity with Git-based version control and pull request workflows
  • Experience working within Azure DevOps for project tracking and deployment coordination
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort querying curated warehouse tables

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience working with Databricks or Azure-based data platforms
  • Familiarity with Change Management concepts for BI and analytics deployments
  • Experience supporting Accounting, Finance, or Operational reporting
  • Exposure to Freshworks (or similar ticketing systems) integrated with development workflows
  • Real estate industry experience

Behavioral Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to balance business-facing communication with technical depth
  • Comfortable working in a structured, enterprise BI environment
  • Organized, well-documented, and disciplined in development practices
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced reporting environment
  • Strong project management skills, including prioritizing competing requests, communicating progress, and delivering business-aligned solutions
