Job Description
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour worked
Work Location: MSU Bakery 220 Service Road
As a Student Bakery Assistant you will be responsible for assisting full-time staff members with the preparation, baking, and packaging of baked goods for distribution to on-campus and off campus locations.
  • You must have work availability for a minimum of 2 shifts between the hours of 4am to 1pm Monday-Friday, and 5am to 1pm Sunday.
  • Shifts for this position may start as early as 4am, with the latest START time being 11:00 am. Student Bakery Assistants are required to work occasional Sundays
  • Must follow all FDA (Food and Drug Administration) guidelines.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Simple cake finishing
• Operating the bagel, cookie, and bread machines
• Packaging product for delivery
• Stocking and rotating product using the FIFO method
• Maintaining cleanliness of bakery, including working in the dish room and working with large equipment
Required Qualifications
• Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
• Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service
• Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
• Must take responsibility for work and self
• Must demonstrate proper food and work environment safety, and maintain high standards of cleanliness
• Must be positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population
• Must be team-oriented, and practice good teamwork and communication skills
• Must be able to attend shifts as scheduled, with reliable work attendance
• Must be able to work at least two shifts during the week, and occasional Sunday shifts
• Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • All shifts are scheduled per the needs of the operation. Your shifts may not total the maximum hours allowed.
