Description
Position Overview
The AVP/Manager will lead the organization's Foreclosure and Claims operations, ensuring timely execution, regulatory compliance, and maximized investor recoveries throughout the foreclosure lifecycle. This leader will serve as the subject matter expert in foreclosure and claims, driving operational excellence while partnering with internal teams, investors, attorneys, and vendors.
The ideal candidate has deep expertise in foreclosure operations and mortgage claims, with broader default servicing experience considered a plus. This role is a replacement for an existing leader and requires someone who can quickly step in and provide operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Foreclosure Operations
  • Lead end-to-end foreclosure operations from referral through post-sale.
  • Ensure compliance with investor, agency, state, and federal foreclosure requirements.
  • Oversee foreclosure attorneys and vendor partners, ensuring service level adherence and quality execution.
  • Monitor foreclosure timelines, milestone performance, and exception management.
  • Drive process improvements to reduce cycle times and operational risk.

Claims Management
  • Oversee timely and accurate filing of investor, insurer, and guarantor claims (FHA, VA, USDA, GSEs, and private investors).
  • Manage claim denials, curtailments, appeals, and recoveries.
  • Ensure compliance with agency documentation requirements and filing deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve recoveries and minimize financial losses.

Operational Leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Foreclosure and Claims team.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and quality controls.
  • Monitor KPIs including foreclosure timelines, claim recovery rates, curtailments, aging, and vendor performance.
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Bankruptcy, Loss Mitigation, REO, and Investor Reporting teams to improve operational effectiveness.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Collaborate across Default Servicing to ensure seamless transitions throughout the foreclosure lifecycle.
  • Support broader default initiatives when needed, including post-sale and loss mitigation activities.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives and operational improvements.

Qualifications
Required
  • 7+ years of mortgage default servicing experience.
  • Deep expertise in Foreclosure and Claims.
  • Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and investor foreclosure and claims requirements.
  • Experience managing foreclosure attorneys and third-party vendors.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with MSP/Black Knight or similar mortgage servicing platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred
  • Experience with Loss Mitigation, Bankruptcy, REO, Corporate Advances, Property Preservation, or other Default Servicing functions.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or process improvement experience.
  • Proven success leading operational transformation initiatives.
