Job Title: Actuarial - IT Product Owner

Job Summary: AVP Actuarial Product Owner's mission is to manage the team while working with leadership and stakeholders to create and evolve Fulcrum's digital products. Working closely with business, end users and functional groups (e.g. Design, Development, Infrastructure), the AVP Actuarial - IT Product Owner will identify opportunities to improve efficiency, drive innovation, and solve business problems to support the growth of Fulcrum's business. They will manage their team and work with their cross functional Product team to implement solutions that bring value to Fulcrum.
Job Duties
  • Deliver Business Outcomes - "What and Why"
    • Oversee the entire product lifecycle of the applicable products, from concept ideation to product delivery.
    • Work closely with the technology development team to prioritize product development initiatives and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
    • Understand the business need, user needs, manage priorities and establish the vision for the product.
    • Create and leverage the business case to understand and quantify the value of outcomes.
    • Monitor and analyze system performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize user experience.
  • Well informed stakeholders and users- "Who"
    • Oversee relationships with relevant stakeholders including business partners and functional subject matter experts.
    • Manage relationships with IT and business leadership.
    • Provide regular updates, on both strategic and tactical plans (e.g. roadmap reviews and demos)
  • Grow the Agile Practice at Fulcrum - "How"
    • Manage team of various roles as applicable.
    • Work with the team and broader organization to adopt agile practices to improve transparency, communication, effectiveness and team happiness.
    • Participate in the AW Community of Practice and bring new ideas and practices the community.
    • Proactively monitor trends and shares results with recommendations to leaders and business partners.
    • Provide guidance to less experienced team members and manages projects as needed.
    • Stay up to date in expertise and industry trends and development.
    • Drive innovation in processes while maintaining clear documentation of methods.
    • Continually improve processes and maintain clear documentation of methods.

Job Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of core functions of an insurance Company and applicable concepts, with a primary focus on actuarial pricing and/or reserving.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence using analyses at various levels, including senior leadership.
  • Experience building successful business partnerships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and passion for mentorship and developing team members skills.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and promote a successful working team environment.
  • Effective communicator and exceptional listener with experience persuading/negotiating trade-offs of scope and timelines.

  • Education & Training:
    • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or product development experience.
    • Typically, a minimum of 9 years of related work experience.
    • Typically, a minimum of 5 years of manager/leadership experience.
    • Domain knowledge of insurance and/or reinsurance is required, specifically actuarial pricing and reserving practices.
