Lead with purpose, unlock your team's passion

At LPL, people leaders hold the key to the employee experience — shaping culture, driving performance, and guiding individuals to new heights. Because when that happens, we all win – clients, LPL, and most importantly, our employees. If you're ready to lead with intention and discover what's possible, LPL Financial invites you to apply today.

Are you passionate about building high-performance trading platforms and leading teams through meaningful transformation? As an AVP Tech Lead within LPL's Trading & Advisory organization, you will play a critical role in modernizing mission-critical systems that power advisors and clients every day. This is a hands-on, techno-functional leadership role where innovation, scale, and resiliency matter.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and innovative AVP Tech Lead to support LPL's cloud transformation journey. This role will design, architect, and develop cloud-native and on-premise trading services leveraging AWS technologies,.NET, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. As a trusted technology leader, you will work closely with architecture, product, data, and business partners to deliver high-throughput, highly available trading and advisory platforms aligned with LPL's cloud and modernization strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing, cross-functional engineering team delivering large-scale, multi-year trading initiatives.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement scalable solutions using AWS cloud-native services (EC2, S3, ECS/EKS, ELB, RDS, Route 53, Lambda, API Gateway).
  • Drive cloud migration strategies, modernizing on-prem Windows services and.NET applications to AWS while ensuring resiliency, security, and performance.
  • Partner with architecture, product, data, QA, DevOps, and PMO teams to ensure adherence to SDLC, Agile best practices, and release management standards.
  • Build guardrails and self-service capabilities that enable teams to own and operate end-to-end cloud applications.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across full-stack development (.NET, Angular, databases, event-driven architectures).
  • Ensure production stability by providing support, troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement of trading platforms.
  • Measure delivery success through velocity, quality metrics, defect remediation, and demonstrable business value.
  • Ensure SLAs, resiliency, and contingency plans are met to deliver a seamless advisor and client experience.

What Are We Looking For?

A seasoned technology leader who combines deep trading domain expertise with modern cloud engineering skills. You thrive in complex environments, lead by example, communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, and bring a pragmatic, results-oriented mindset to large-scale transformation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in capital markets with strong knowledge of trading intraday/EOD flows and advisory platforms.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience leading full-stack application delivery as an Engineering Tech Lead.
  • 6+ years of experience designing, migrating, and operating.NET applications and databases on AWS.
  • Strong expertise in event-driven architectures (Kafka),.NET/C#, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, and Angular.

Core Competencies

  • Ownership of mission-critical, high-availability production systems
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication with both technical teams and senior SVP/EVP stakeholders
  • Agile delivery leadership and estimation discipline
  • Experience collaborating with offshore and global delivery teams

Preferences

  • Deep knowledge of trading and order execution workflows
  • Proven success with on-prem to cloud transformation initiatives
  • Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams
