Job description

Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for maintaining the optimal performance of the automated system and its integrated automation components and controls.

·         Demonstrate advanced understanding and knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

·         Complete and fulfill all the tasks and responsibilities of the Automation Technician 1.

·         Diagnose and resolve issues with automated equipment.

·         Capable of working independently and with limited supervision.

·         Utilize a network-based Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system to manage work orders, ensuring accurate documentation, status updates, and completion in accordance with established processes.

·         Lead portions of projects and repairs while guiding other technicians. 

·         Diagnose system faults, implementing timely resolutions, and ensuring continuous operational efficiency.

·         Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical prints, and other technical documentation to perform repairs as directed.

·         Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance activities as directed.

·         Identify and source all necessary parts and materials required for the planning and successful completion of equipment installations or projects.

·         Escalates breakdowns and system outages acting as a key liaison between warehouse operations, automation providers, and USCS Engineering to help resolve errors.

·         Adapt work schedules as required to ensure timely completion of multiple projects and support organizational priorities.

·         Effectively multi-task across competing responsibilities while ensuring accuracy, organization, and timely completion of deliverables.

·         Demonstrate capability in operating forklifts and boom lifts, including safely performing work at elevated heights.

·         Mentor and build the skill level of automation 1 technicians.

·         Manage the parts inventory to ensure the overall success of any projects and the automated system.

·         Install, wire, and set up electrical components and devices from drawings.

  • Perform secondary job tasks as assigned. This may include but not limited to, required paperwork, battery maintenance, warehouse maintenance, equipment maintenance, general housekeeping, and other preventative maintenance tasks as directed.

What We Are Looking For:

The Ideal candidate will have or be able to complete the below qualifications.

·         Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

o   Strongly preferred:

§  Advanced technical certification.

§  Associate’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field.

§  Two plus years as USCS Automation Technician 1 with completion of USCS automation training and advanced courses.

·         Experience:

o   Hold and maintain all required certifications and compliance training. 

o   Four years maintenance experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment

o   Advanced electrical skills including but not limited to troubleshooting and replacing/adjusting VFDs, IO cards, remote IO modules, barcode scanners, motors.

o   Advanced mechanical skills including but not limited to troubleshooting and replacing/adjusting chains, rollers, motors, gears, bearings

o   Hands on experience troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

    • Must have strong computer skills with familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.

·         Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment as required.

·         Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.

·         Follow verbal instructions, written instructions, and company policies.

·         Be a self-starter, able to work independently and coordinate with others.
