Job Description

The Role

As a Paramedic in Aurora, you're the clinical lead of a two-person crew, responding to 911 emergencies across Aurora and Hamilton County and handling interfacility and transfer calls. You'll run the full ALS scope - assessment, pharmacology, advanced airway, cardiac monitoring, and resuscitation - under Nebraska protocols and Medical Director standing orders, with the autonomy and support to practice good medicine.

Schedule48/96 rotation - 48 hours on, 96 hours off

Reports To: EMS Director (Aurora)

What You'll Do

  • Respond promptly to 911 and transfer calls within the Aurora and Hamilton County service area
  • Serve as the clinical decision-maker on scene as part of a two-person crew
  • Perform patient assessments and deliver the full ALS scope under Nebraska EMS protocols and Medical Director standing orders
  • Administer medications via IV, IM, or IO per protocol
  • Manage airways using advanced techniques; acquire and interpret 12-lead ECGs and function in an advanced practice/CCT setting. 
  • Provide full ALS resuscitation, including defibrillation, for cardiac arrest patients
  • Safely operate an emergency ambulance to and from scenes and receiving facilities
  • Complete electronic patient care reports (ZOLL emsCharts) accurately and on time, documenting all interventions
  • Conduct daily vehicle and equipment readiness checks; document in PSTrax and maintain ALS medication and equipment par levels
  • Maintain controlled-substance chain of custody per protocol
  • Participate in QA/QI peer review and continuing education
  • Treat every patient, family member, and partner agency with professionalism and respect

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • ALS field experience in a 911 and/or transport setting
  • ACLS and PALS certifications
  • PHTLS or ITLS certification
  • Roots in or genuine commitment to the Aurora / Hamilton County community
  • Current, valid Nebraska Paramedic license (KBEMS)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record 
  • U.S. citizenship or authorized to work in the United States 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCT-P, FP-C, or CCP-C critical care certification
