Job description

Valve Sales, Inc. (VSI) provides engineered valve solutions and world-class service to the upstream, midstream, and downstream energy markets. We specialize in automated valve packages, control valves, pressure relief systems, and flow control solutions from industry-leading manufacturers. Supported by a team of certified technicians and strategically located service centers, VSI delivers comprehensive solutions for new equipment, repairs, field services, and ongoing maintenance.
The Technical Sales Specialist serves as a key liaison between customers, outside sales representatives, service teams, and manufacturers. This role is responsible for providing technical product support, preparing quotations, coordinating service requirements, and ensuring customers receive accurate and timely solutions for their valve and flow control needs.
This position is eligible for remote work, with a preference for candidates located in or near the Tulsa, OK area.
Responsibilities:
Customer & Technical Support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries related to products, repairs, and field services.
  • Provide technical guidance on valve selection, specifications, applications, materials, and performance requirements.
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting, problem resolution, and identifying the most effective solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support long-term business growth and customer satisfaction.

Quoting & Sales Support
  • Prepare and follow up on quotations, sales orders, purchase orders, and service-related documentation.
  • Work closely with outside sales representatives to support account management and sales initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to expand business through cross-selling, upselling, and alternative product recommendations.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to obtain pricing, technical information, and lead times for customer requests.

Operations & Service Coordination
  • Collaborate with purchasing and inventory teams to verify product availability and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with service supervisors and field personnel to support upcoming service projects and customer requirements.
  • Ensure timely communication between customers, service teams, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate records within company systems and support continuous process improvements.

Product & Industry Expertise
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of automated valves, control valves, safety relief valves, actuators, instrumentation, and related flow control equipment.
  • Interpret technical specifications, drawings, and industry requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable industry standards including API, ASME, ANSI, and related regulations.
  • Stay current on new products, technologies, market trends, and competitive offerings.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales, inside sales, customer service, industrial distribution, valve automation, instrumentation, or a related industry.
  • Experience supporting industrial customers in manufacturing, oil & gas, power generation, chemical processing, or related markets is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/CRM systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
