Job Description:
The Athletic Operations Manager is a supplemental position responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the school's athletic program. This individual works closely with the Athletic Director, coaches, counselors, students, and families to ensure compliance with athletic eligibility requirements, organizational procedures, and administrative operations while promoting student-athlete success both academically and athletically.

Essential Functions:
Athletic Program Operations
• Assist the Athletic Director with the daily operation and administration of the athletic department.
• Coordinate athletic schedules, including practices, contests, facilities, and transportation needs.
• Assist with game management and event logistics.
• Maintain communication with coaches regarding schedules, eligibility, and operational procedures.
Academic Monitoring
• Monitor student-athletes' academic progress and eligibility requirements.
• Coordinate grade checks and communicate academic concerns with coaches, counselors, students, and parents.
• Organize and supervise academic study tables for student-athletes requiring academic support.
• Encourage academic excellence and compliance with district and state athletic eligibility standards.
Student Eligibility & Compliance
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining student physical examination records.
• Work with the Administrative Assistant to ensure all required athletic participation documents are completed prior to participation.
• Assist with state athletic association compliance requirements.
College & Student-Athlete Support
• Work with the guidance counselors to ensure NCAA Eligibility Center (Clearinghouse) protocols are followed.
• Educate students regarding NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA eligibility standards.
Athletic Website & Communications
• Work with the administrative assistant to maintain and update the athletic department website with:

• Schedules
• Team information
• Announcements
• Forms
• Athletic news

Financial & Administrative Support
• Utilize DragonFly (or district-approved system) to process athletic department expenses.
Qualifications
• High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid Pupil Activity Permit with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
• Experience working in athletics, education, coaching, or athletic administration preferred.
• Knowledge of high school athletic eligibility rules and procedures.
• Familiarity with NCAA Eligibility Center requirements preferred.
• Experience using DragonFly or similar athletic management software preferred.

The GHCS places a great deal of emphasis at all levels of education on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) and each school has won awards from the State of Ohio for encouraging and promoting positive behavior.
A wide variety of co-curricular offerings are available to students of all ages in the Garfield Heights City Schools as well. Such opportunities include more than 18 varsity sports, the district's show choir, Music Express, Marching Band, Theater, A Capella Choir, National Honor Society, Student Council, Glass Ceiling, Future Engineers, and more. These co-curricular offerings are award-winning on the state, regional and local levels.
