Job description

Assistant Program Managers provide assistance to the Respite Program Manager in day-to-day general management of the program. A successful Assistant Program Manager will ensure all site Direct Support Professionals are property trained and ready to meet the needs of the people supported at the Respite site and performs the Direct Support Professional job as necessary to ensure consistent and quality services are provided. The Assistant Site Manager also ensures billing issues or concerns are reported timely to the Respite Manager.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Makes decisions based on the NYS DSP Code of Ethics and Agency's mission, vision and values and holds team to the same standards; serves as a role model upholding the core behaviors in the Agency's Living the Mission statement; consistently displays ethical decision making.

2. Promotes Person Centered Planning, considering the dreams and goals of individuals being served using Personal Outcome Measures (POMs) and knowledge of person-centered practices and tools.

3. Assesses ability of skill sets of persons served through observation and monitoring of daily documentation, to determine support needs.

4. Assist with onsite training as well as day to day coaching and mentoring of DSPs in alignment with the NYS Competencies.

5. Assists with staff scheduling and shift assignments to ensure safety and minimum staffing pattern are always met.

6. Responsible for providing ongoing coaching and mentoring for continued growth and development of DSPs.

7. Performs as a DSP as scheduled, including providing transportation to individuals when necessary. Implements SCIP-R when necessary.

8. Stays informed regarding state and OPWDD regulations that impact the health, safety and welfare needs of individuals who receive services in order to best advocate for the person.

9. Evaluates medical needs of persons served through observation and communication with those providing services and communicates such needs to Program Manager and site RN.

10. Reviews all documentation and ensures required documentation for billing is present and accurate by following Residential Habilitation regulations and agency policy and procedures.

11. Responsible for daily management of and compliance with Personally Managed Funds (PMF).

12. Audits weekly needs of the site and individuals, including supplies, maintenance repairs, issues with Agency vehicles, and reports to Program Manager.

13. Responsible for keeping inventory of household items and addressing concerns as they arise.

14. Assists in training staff regarding behavioral plans and interventions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with supervising part-time and Relief Direct Support Professionals assigned to the site.
