OVERVIEW:

The Associate Testing Manager supports DICK'S Sporting Goods Vertical Brands by overseeing product testing activities that ensure all materials and finished garments meet required quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role guides the testing lifecycle from early fabric development through production, partnering closely with internal teams and global vendors. The position also contributes to continuous improvement by delivering training, monitoring regulatory updates, and supporting research and benchmarking initiatives.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Evaluate laboratory test results, material performance, and garment construction for development and production stages using recognized industry test methods (AATCC, ASTM, ISO).
  • Collaborate with the Product Regulatory Compliance team to ensure alignment with all applicable federal and state safety regulations, including CPSC/CPSIA requirements for youth products.
  • Monitor adherence to internal quality expectations and restricted substance standards in partnership with the Product Regulatory Compliance team.

Product Certification & Labeling Management

  • Prepare and approve product care and content labels in alignment with Federal Trade Commission requirements.
  • Confirm accuracy and completeness of documentation supporting General Conformity Certificates (GCCs) and Children's Product Certificates (CPC).

Cross Functional & Vendor Partnership

  • Work closely with global sourcing teams, the Hong Kong Office, and manufacturing partners to support daily operations and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with color, design, fabric, sourcing, and production teams to address testing concerns and reinforce safety and quality compliance.

Industry Research, Benchmarking & Education

  • Track changes in industry regulations, testing technology, and market trends to ensure internal processes remain current.
  • Support comparative testing, audits, and research projects focused on quality standards and restricted substances.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and educational resources for internal teams, mills, and vendor partners on testing protocols, quality expectations, and regulatory updates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years experience in testing laboratory or quality assurance
  • Knowledge of AATCC/ASTM testing methods and standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Testing, Chemistry, or equivalent experience in a science or related field
