Clerk, Remote Testing

The Remote Testing Clerk monitors test takers remotely using webcam and screen-sharing technology to ensure academic integrity. They verify student identities, enforce testing rules, prevent cheating, and provide basic technical support during examinations. Work schedule may include evenings, nights, and weekends.

Supervision Received and Exercised

Operates under the direct supervision of the department manager or designated supervisor. The role does not typically include supervisory responsibilities, but may occasionally provide guidance to junior staff or new hires as part of onboarding and training processes. The position is expected to work independently on routine tasks while seeking direction for more complex assignments.

Competency Expectations

  • Perform administrative duties for a department in support of faculty, staff, and/or student efforts, including examining and answering correspondence, processing and prioritizing office communications, processing mail, answering phone calls and email, and arranging conference calls.
  • Perform clerical duties, including correspondence, maintaining tracking systems and logs, processing mail, and duplication.
  • Provide customer service to faculty, staff, and/or prospective, current, and returning students.
  • May serve in a variety of areas focusing on specific rules, government regulations, and documentation specific to that area.
  • Provide clerical support for programs and functions.

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Monitor students using webcam and screen-sharing technology during remote testing to ensure compliance with testing protocols and prevent academic dishonesty.
  • Welcome test takers and explain testing procedures clearly.
  • Verify student identities and enforce testing rules to prevent cheating.
  • Document incidents and report irregularities.
  • Maintain detailed logs and collaborate with the proctoring team to refine proctoring processes.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality regarding student information and all aspects of testing in accordance with FERPA and established office procedures.
  • Provide basic technical support during examinations.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
