Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Test Engineer at our Orlando, FL location. This role will support avionics component and subsystem level testing, including working with various engineering disciplines to develop test plans and procedures/programs (manual and automated), coordinating test readiness reviews, test executions, providing floor support and performing failure investigations.

This location produces complex stage launch vehicles used to support ballistic missile defense testing. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for performing Test Engineering tasks that establish and manage design requirements, and will verify product designs meet all operating requirements for fabrication, test, flight, and life cycle disposal environments.

Essential Functions:

Perform component test planning, preparation, generation of manual test procedures and development of automated test equipment and software, coordinating and ensuring successful test execution and completion

Perform integration testing, leading failure investigations, perform root cause analysis, and mistake proof planning

Provide production floor support for test teams as needed

Train in both company processes, launch vehicle systems and related test engineering tasks 

Ability to obtain a US security clearance

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 0-2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Requires strong knowledge of job area.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience in Automated Test Equipment development using Labview/TestStand or similar

Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams

Strong analytical and problem solving skills, troubleshoot hardware, identify root cause and corrective action

Ability to multi-task, attention to detail

Must be able to work well under pressure, in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment

Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills are required, as well as solid computer skills and experience using the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project).

Programming skills, familiar with software development tools and processes

Familiar with Root Cause Analysis tools such as Five Whys and Fault Tree Analysis as well as Mistake Proofing

Experienced with Environmental Stress Screening Acceptance Testing and Qualification Testing

General purpose test equipment proficiency (DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies, network analyzers, etc.)

Knowledgeable of aerospace/defense engineering design and production disciplines
