Definition Under direction, performs a variety of moderately to highly complex clerical and administrative duties supporting all areas of the Davenport Police Department. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, entering and managing data, and performing a range of office support functions. The salary range for this position is $25.11 per hour to $32.95 per hour; however, starting salary will not exceed $27.72 per hour and will be determined based on experience and qualifications

Provides executive level administrative support for the Police Chief and Assistant Police Chief, including preparation of correspondence from notes or rough drafts; drafting, proofreading or editing correspondence; arranging and scheduling meetings; taking notes and preparing meeting minutes; scheduling appointments; preparing and maintaining recommendations, reports, studies and account; and coordinating special programs and events. Acts as subject matter expert for the department's timekeeping/scheduling databases and trains employees on system upgrades and process changes. Reviews payroll reports and data; reviews employee documentation and timesheets; maintains payroll records in compliance with policy; and maintains records on probationary personnel to ensure appropriate pay increases are applied.
Processes new employee data, maintains retirement eligibility lists, tracks and documents leave to include military, injury, FMLA and sickness. Assists with the budget process including calculating of revenues and expenses, summarizing data, and maintaining records. Acts as site administrator for the City's travel system.
Provides information to co-workers by explaining department and City policy and procedure; answers questions or directs to other sources of information when necessary. Receives and directs comments and complaints from the public relating to department operations and takes appropriate action to resolve or refer such communications to the appropriate department member. Acts as a transcriber for Internal Affairs Reports.
Distributes incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail for the department. Performs other related duties as necessary. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience or associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school plus four (4) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the required work in this position.
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain throughout duration of employment. Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport.
