First Southern Bank is looking for a Commercial Banking Officer to join our team in Florence! This individual will be responsible for promoting products & services focusing on deposit and loan relationships, underwriting, structuring, and closing of commercial loans as well as maintaining and servicing a commercial loan portfolio while adhering to the bank’s loan policy, and state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Be proactive in outside sales calls, developing referral sources, and community engagement
  • Drive new deposit development efforts for branch market
  • Obtain and analyze financial information, including financial statements and credit histories to provide suitable loan and credit solutions
  • Follow the loan policy and other guidelines in making loans
  • Approve loans within specified limits or propose loan opportunities to the Loan Committee for proper approval
  • Prepare financing proposals consistent with approval for presentation to customers
  • Ensure timely loan closing and funding activities
  • Manage loan portfolio including renewals and modifications
  • Keep current with respect to all bank compliance requirements
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with customers, bank staff, local professionals, and community organizations
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality related to the bank, customers, board members and bank associate information

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field
  • 7+ years of retail banking and commercial lending experience, with a preference for existing experience within service area
  • Communicate effectively and directly both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to self-motivate – internal drive to achieve, produce, and develop
  • Understand, interpret, and apply complex laws, rules and regulations as they apply to compliance in a financial institution
  • Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities as well as understanding of credit underwriting and loan documentation
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, contracts, other legal documents as needed
