START DATE SEPTEMBER 2026 - FULL TIME
OVERVIEW:
Bristol County Savings Bankโ€™s Commercial Banking Trainee Program is designed to provide candidates an opportunity to build a successful commercial banking career. The program consists of an eighteen-month intensive curriculum engineered to introduce all aspects of Commercial Banking. Participants will build a foundation through classroom instruction, on-the-job training, external training, and mentorship opportunities. Upon completion of the program each participant will have a dynamic understanding of the end-to-end Commercial Banking process with a strong foundation in commercial credit fundamentals including financial statement analysis, underwriting and loan structuring as well as legal documentation, portfolio management and relationship building.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and the community in which it serves.
โ€ข Assess risk by identifying strengths and weaknesses utilizing financial statements, tax returns, annual reports, credit bureaus and other relevant information made available by market research and/or the respective account officer.
โ€ข Spread and analyze financial statements and provide trend analysis.
โ€ข Effectively and accurately complete a credit approval document for various non-complex credit facilities, including renewals, modifications, reviews, new money, etc.
โ€ข Assists in researching and responding to internal and external requests for information regarding commercial loan customers within the Bankโ€™s policies and practices regarding authorized use of credit information.
โ€ข Participates in external training opportunities.
โ€ข Monitors compliance with Bank policy and with various banking laws and regulations.
โ€ข Supports all areas of Commercial Banking by assisting with projects in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs related and unrelated responsibilities as may be required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s Degree required, preferably in the fields of Business Administration, Finance, Economics or Accounting
โ€ข A minimum 3.0 GPA required; 3.3 GPA preferred
โ€ข Professional reference letter (letter should be from a previous supervisor or professor who can attest to professional skills, experience and character)
โ€ข Strong critical thinking ability and analytic skills
โ€ข Excellent organization and time management abilities
โ€ข Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills
โ€ข Proficiency in technologies such as Microsoft Windows-based Software is required
โ€ข Experience with a Loan Origination System (LOS) and Financial Spreading Software is preferable but not required
โ€ข Must be aware of bankโ€™s policies and practices regarding authorized use of credit information

INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with manager where clarification or exception to Bank policy may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
