Job Summary

The Director of Retail Banking is responsible for leading retail branch performance across the Bank's footprint through a balanced focus on sales growth, customer experience, operational excellence, talent development, and risk management. This position partners closely with Regional Managers to develop high-performing teams, strengthen leadership capabilities, drive branch growth, improve customer engagement, and ensure consistent execution of the Bank's retail strategy.


The Director of Retail Banking serves as a key leader within the Retail Banking Division and works closely with the Chief Deposit Growth Officer to execute growth strategies, sales and service initiatives, business development activities, community engagement efforts, and branch performance objectives. This position partners with key stakeholders throughout the organization to drive deposit growth, strengthen customer relationships, enhance employee performance, and ensure successful execution of strategic priorities across the retail network.


The position provides leadership, coaching, performance management, and strategic direction to Regional Managers while fostering a culture of accountability, employee development, customer advocacy, operational effectiveness, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the retail branch network.


Essential Functions/Duties

The following duties are representative of the essential functions of the position:

  • Lead retail branch performance across the Bank's footprint to achieve sales, service, operational, customer experience, and financial objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and development to Regional Managers and their respective teams.
  • Foster a balanced culture focused on sales growth, customer experience, operational excellence, compliance, and risk management.
  • Develop and execute retail business plans that support deposit growth, customer acquisition, relationship expansion, profitability, and market development.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability measures while monitoring key performance indicators across the retail network.
  • Analyze branch performance trends and develop strategies to improve employee performance, customer experience, sales effectiveness, and operational results.
  • Partner with the Chief Deposit Growth Officer to develop and execute retail growth strategies, branch campaigns, business development initiatives, customer acquisition programs, and deposit growth objectives.
  • Lead execution of branch growth plans and ensure consistent implementation of strategic initiatives throughout the retail network.
  • Partner with Regional Managers to identify market opportunities, strengthen community presence, and expand business development efforts within local markets.
  • Drive employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives throughout the retail organization.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Retail Training & Development to ensure effective onboarding, coaching, leadership development, and employee readiness programs.
  • Partner with the Head of Product & Operations to ensure operational consistency, procedural adherence, implementation readiness, and successful execution of operational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Compliance, Risk Management, Human Resources, Branch Administration, and other key stakeholders to support organizational objectives and retail performance.
  • Lead branch readiness and execution for strategic initiatives, product launches, system enhancements, and organizational priorities.
  • Conduct regular branch visits to assess performance, strengthen leadership effectiveness, reinforce expectations, and support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure a consistent and exceptional customer experience throughout the retail branch network.
  • Champion the Bank's One Bank, One Team, One Brand culture through leadership, communication, collaboration, and employee engagement.
  • Prepare and present retail performance reporting, recommendations, and strategic insights to executive leadership.

Requirements

Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Banking, Management, Marketing, or a related field normally required.

Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive banking experience required, including significant experience in retail banking leadership, sales leadership, branch management, performance management, employee development, and operational oversight. Multi-location leadership experience strongly preferred.

Travel Requirements: Travel throughout the Bank's footprint as required.


Scheduling: Standard business hours with flexibility to support strategic initiatives, training programs, operational projects and business needs as required.
