Description Do Great Things. Durham Technical Community College is hiring a Administrative Assistant in the Health and Wellness Department. The Health and Wellness, Administrative Assistant (part time) is primarily responsible for administrative duties to support the Health and Wellness department.

Responsibilities include performing administrative and secretarial duties of a complex and confidential nature in support of departmental activities to relieve program directors of clerical and minor administrative responsibilities and to maintain efficiency of departmental office operations. Lastly, efficiency and flexibility must be maintained in order for these multi-faceted programs to provide optimum student services. Examples of Duties Provide a full range of administrative support to the Health and Wellness programs; Respond to communication from students for Health and Wellness programs as directed and triage accordingly; Inventory and track supplies for the Health and Wellness programs; Collect and review documents for registration, orientation, and other program requirements.

Register non-credit students for courses if trained and directed; Assist the directors and students with Element 451, Platinum Planner, Castlebranch, and other systems used by the Health and Wellness department; Track, manage and audit student files and maintain filing systems; Assist in the development and revision of program materials and forms as directed; Participate in departmental meetings and other announced activities including marketing and recruitment activities; Participate in training and other opportunities for continued professional development, including attendance at off-campus activities, as feasible, Schedule rooms for classes and meetings for the directors; Additional duties shall include other appropriate activities assigned by the Dean, Health and Wellness and Program Directors. Minimum Qualifications Associate Degree (or higher) in secretarial science, or business administration, or a similar field; Work Experience: Two years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical administrative/office management experience or other experience related to the assigned work. Supplemental Information Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to communicate positively with students, faculty and staff, and guests; Excellent customer service skills providing a welcoming presence for the Health and Wellness Department; Excellent written communication skills including the ability to draft letters and other correspondence, create forms and spreadsheets, and other written media; Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines; Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action; Excellent computer skills as evidenced by experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Access, and Word; Experience with a student information systems (such as Colleague, Webadvisor, etc.); Experience with a learning management system (such as Canvas), virtual meeting systems (MS Teams, Zoom, etc), and other technologies is preferred; Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality; and Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of the community college; Ability to work with the public and sensitive to the needs of students; and, Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse student population.
