What is an assistant project analyst?

Assistant Project Analysts are entry- to mid-level professionals who support project managers and teams by analyzing project data, preparing reports, tracking progress, and helping ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget. They often assist with scheduling, documentation, and communication among stakeholders. Their analytical skills help identify potential risks and optimize project processes, making them valuable contributors to successful project delivery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an assistant project analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Assistant Project Analyst, you typically need a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, with strong analytical, organizational, and data management skills. Familiarity with project management software (such as MS Project or Asana), spreadsheets, and reporting tools is often required. Attention to detail, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities are essential soft skills for supporting project teams and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to support construction project delivery across Essex County, New Jersey. This role is ideal for a highly organized individual who can track schedules, evaluate project documentation, and help keep budgets, contractors, and deliverables aligned. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex commercial construction efforts by providing strong analytical support and field-aware coordination from planning through closeout.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee several active construction assignments at once, helping maintain progress against schedules, financial targets, and quality expectations.

• Analyze drawings, contracts, and supporting project records to identify gaps, clarify scope, and support informed project decisions.

• Monitor contractor activities, provide coordination support, and help ensure work performed in the field aligns with project plans.

• Review change requests, assist with cost and schedule impact assessments, and support negotiations through final implementation.

• Build, update, and track project timelines, highlighting milestone risks and recommending corrective actions when delays arise.
