Payroll Assistant - Job Description

The Seelye Auto Group has proudly served Southwest Michigan for over 60 years with a strong foundation built on honesty, integrity, and commitment to community. We are looking to hire a Payroll Assistant with outstanding administrative and communication skills to join a Best and Brightest Companies to Work for in the Nation Winner (6 years in a row). This person is expected to be a critical thinker with excellent organizational and time management skills. You must be reliable and should accurately follow instructions with the ability to multitask and acclimatize to a fast-paced environment. Prior payroll experience preferred.

To ensure success, our Payroll Assistant should be a self-starter with solid decision-making skills and good attention to detail.

Payroll Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests.
  • Process payroll and resolve any payroll errors.
  • Maintain digital and physical records of employees.
  • Update company databases for hires/rehires and terminations.
  • Oversee the completion and filing of compensation documentation.

Payroll Assistant Requirements:

  • On-the-job experience in payroll or related data entry (essential).
  • Effective organization and time management skills.
  • Understanding of payroll functions and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
