Medical Affairs & Education Manager โ€“ SurgicalLocation: McHenry, IL | Travel: up to 40% (U.S. and Canada)Salary: Starting at $140,000 plus bonus.

Join Medela and help shape the future of surgical care education and scientific engagement across the U.S. and Canada. We are seeking a highly relationshipโ€‘driven Medical Affairs & Education Manager to serve as a key bridge between healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Clinical Affairs, and internal crossโ€‘functional teams within our Surgical Care business.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with thoracic and cardiac surgery KOLs across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Engage surgeons and healthcare professionals as speakers, advisors, and scientific collaborators.
  • Serve as a liaison between Clinical Affairs and external experts to facilitate scientific exchange and insight gathering.
  • Develop longโ€‘term partnerships with professional societies and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Support awareness initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes through chest drainage management.
  • Deliver evidenceโ€‘based medical and scientific education through presentations, webinars, roundtables, interviews, and scientific events.
  • Organize and lead scientific symposia and educational programs, including participation in major congresses such as AATS and STS.
  • Prepare scientific moderation materials, event agendas, and educational strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Summarize and communicate key scientific insights and congress learnings to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Communications, and Global Medical Affairs teams while maintaining strict compliance boundaries between Medical Affairs and Sales.
  • Respond to scientific inquiries with accurate, compliant, and timely medical information.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and help define clinical and scientific endpoints.
  • Assist with scientific literature reviews, publications, and medical writing activities.
  • Partner with Clinical Affairs on investigatorโ€‘initiated studies and researchโ€‘related requests.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving clinical evidence, competitive developments, and emerging scientific trends.
What Weโ€™re Looking For
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, nursing, medicine, or related healthcare field (preferred).
  • BCMAS and/or MSLโ€‘BC certification is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of scientific and clinical terminology within hospital or surgical environments.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to engage senior surgeons and healthcare professionals with credibility and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Fluent English required; French language skills highly desired.
  • 2โ€“5 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, healthcare education, or MedTech industry roles.
  • Experience working with KOLs, scientific events, and educational programs.
  • Background in thoracic, cardiac, critical care, or hospitalโ€‘based environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience moderating scientific roundtables, symposiums, or educational events.
  • Familiarity with scientific literature research, publications, and evidenceโ€‘based communication.
  • Experience working within global or crossโ€‘functional organizations preferred.

Additional Details
  • Travel up to 40%, including occasional international travel.
  • Coverage includes the United States and Canada, including Quebec and Ontario.
  • French language highly desired.
  • Must comply with all credentialing and hospital/vendor access requirements.
