Date of Posting: July 1, 2026 Marching Band Assistant Color Guard Instructor Title: Marching Band Assistant Color Guard Instructor Units: 5Location: Marple Newtown High SchoolNumber of Positions: 1 Job Description: Marching Band is a club that is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students at Marple Newtown and offers the students a multitude of activities as well as an opportunity to socialize and make lasting friendships.Effective: 2026-2027 School YearQualifications:Experience: Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events.Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work with students of all ability levels.Education: Valid PA teaching certificate.Essential Functions: A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members.Advisors work with student leaders to plan events and create opportunities for inclusion.Advisors work with program staff to communicate information, and support and build lasting relationships.Advisors will supervise all club-related events and meetings.Assist in instructing students in color guard techniques, including flag, rifle, and/or sabre work, as well as movement, dance, and body control to support overall performance quality.Support rehearsals outside the school day, including band camp and scheduled practices, by teaching and reinforcing choreography, providing targeted feedback, and ensuring consistency in visual performance.Collaborate with the Marching Band Director and Color Guard staff to align visual elements with the overall marching band show design, including synchronization with music and field staging.Assist with performances at football games, competitions, and community events, including equipment management, student supervision, and reinforcement of expectations for discipline, teamwork, and safety.Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.Other duties as assigned by Administration.
