HEAD HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL COACH
REPORTS TO: Athletics Director
PAY TYPE: Coaching Stipend
PAY RATE: Based upon schedule within the WLCSC Master Teacher Contract (see attachment)
BENEFITS: Not eligible
SCHEDULE: Seasonal; Based upon IHSAA sports calendar and school needs
This position will remain posted until filled. All qualified and interested applicants are encouraged to apply.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the high school baseball program in alignment with West Lafayette Jr. Sr. High School's co-curricular philosophy, focusing on student-athlete development and education-based athletics
  • Plan and conduct effective, safe, and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Ensure all coaching practices align with IHSAA, Hoosier Conference, and school regulations
  • Support athletes' physical, emotional, and social well-being through strong mentorship and leadership
  • Maintain accurate inventory and manage distribution and collection of athletic equipment
  • Develop offseason, youth, and feeder programs to strengthen program continuity
  • Establish and maintain clear communication with athletes, families, and staff
  • Work collaboratively with assistant coaches, administrators, and community partners
  • Represent the school and program professionally at all times
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletics Director, or as noted on the attached detailed job description

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Education, Training, and Experience Required:
    • Must meet IHSAA and IDOE head coaching requirements
    • Completion of InSideOut Initiative seminar/coaching training (or willingness to do so)
    • Experience in an education-based athletic program
    • Playing and/or coaching experience strongly preferred
    • Valid Indiana teaching license preferred

    • Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team culture

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Position works in both indoor and outdoor environments and may endure extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to supervise and manage athletes in various settings
  • Evening and weekend work is required during the sports season
  • May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
