Job Summary
The Men's Wrestling Assistant Coach position for the Morgan State Athletics Department will assist with the supervision, organization, development, and implementation of a nationally competitive intercollegiate wrestling program
Job Duties
Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking an innovative professional for the Men'sWrestling Assistant Coach position for the Morgan State Athletics Department. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated and accomplished leader to join the resurgence of Morgan State Wrestling with an innovative department valuing academic and athletic experiences. The assistant coach will assist with the supervision, organization, development, and implementation of a nationally competitive intercollegiate wrestling program.
  • Assist with practice and competition day management and activities
  • Assist with team/program planning (travel, budget management, community service, study hall, etc.) within institutional budget and policy guidelines.
  • Assist with all recruiting and roster management operations (Scholarships, visits, etc.)
  • Assist with the planning and organization of camps and clinics
  • Support the academic success (APR & GPA) and development of student-athletes
  • Represent the university at conferences, regional, state, and national events relating to wrestling.
  • Manage and maintain important relationships with stakeholders
  • Know and comply with all NCAA, Conference, Institutional rules and regulations, including passing the NCAA Coaches Certification Exam annually
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requested Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

Experience:
  • At least two years wrestling coaching experience is required.
  • Must be CPR certified (or willing to obtain certification).
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Other Preferences for Consideration
Preferences:
  • Five years plus of coaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience with NCAA Wrestling programs.
  • Demonstrated track record with recruiting and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Possess a valid driver's license and meet the requirements to drive a university vehicle
  • Awareness of the RTC, International Competition, USA Wrestling.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of college wrestling coaching, including high-level wrestling talent development,
  • NCAA compliance familiarity
  • Ability to recruit
