As a high school sports coach, your responsibilities include working for a school’s athletic department to teach students the fundamentals of a specific sport, helping them gain the necessary qualities and skills of athletes, guiding players toward working as a team, hosting practice sessions for players, and coordinating and coaching games. Some public or private high schools employ specific coaches, but most prefer you to work as a teacher as well if you have the proper credentials. Your duties also include collecting playing and equipment fees from players, organizing fundraisers, maintaining equipment and gear, and encouraging participation from each player.
