Job description

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the competition cheer head coach, the competition cheer assistant cheer coach is responsible to promote the philosophy of Southside Christian School Athletics and sport's program. This is a stipend position.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • may be asked to help with athletic needs in seasons where they do not coach as a part of our overall athletic team.
  • will be required to attend meetings as required by the Head Coach or Executive Director of Athletics.
  • are expected to uphold and support the SCS school philosophy and athletic philosophy.
  • are expected to know and enforce the SCS Athletic Handbook and SCS Student and Family Handbook.
  • are to be and have their teams available for set up and take down of facilities when needed.
  • are required to complete the NFHS online courses that are required by the SCHSL. These courses need to be completed prior to the first day of practice.
  • are required by the SCHSL to complete CPR certification prior to the first day of practice.
  • are to be aware of general SCHSL guidelines and those related to the sport.
  • may be required to drive the team. Annually and one month prior to the coaching season, coaches must complete a packet to renew driving privileges.
  • are responsible for knowing cheer routines.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:

  • Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
  • Must be a spiritually mature, veteran Christian coach who agrees with the school's Mission, Vision, Values, Biblical Beliefs, Statement of Christian Life Commitment, and Statement of Faith.
  • Must be a person with proven spiritual, moral, and leadership qualities, and be capable of developing a strong rapport with fellow coaches and student athletes and the SCS community.
  • Experience and or training in competitive cheer is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • must be able work in challenging conditions related to the cheer which may include varying temperatures and precipitation.
  • must be able to demonstrate techniques and skills of cheer.
  • must be physically active for extended periods, including standing, walking, and moving around the field or court.
  • must be able to lift and carry equipment related to the sport.
  • must be able to visually monitor athletes for their safety, which can require good eyesight and the ability to stand for long periods.
