Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:

  • Answer calls that come into the APS phone system
  • Gather information and enter it into the APS database
  • Process reports received through electronic means as well as by phone.  
  • Read and assess information gathered to make sound decisions regarding abuse, neglect, and exploitation
  • Use critical thinking to apply statute and rule to the reports received by APS and make decisions regarding the reports
  • Apply trauma informed care principles while taking information from callers by phone
  • Professionally be able to gather information regarding situations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation from callers while showing sensitivity and tact 
  • Use common computer programs and be proficient in spelling, grammar and typing
  • Educate others on the role of APS
  • Provide appropriate referrals to other agencies  to callers in need
