The Instructional Products organization builds applications, frameworks, services, and content systems that power instructional experiences across Apple platforms for hundreds of millions of users.
Join us in shaping the future of engineering efficiency. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who combines deep backend and automation expertise with a with a demonstrated ability to integrate AI-driven agents into complex content and engineering ecosystems. This role will help evolve how our teams build software and how instructional content is created, validated, and delivered at scale.
Description
In this role, you will design and build intelligent tooling and automation that improves both engineering productivity and content operations across Instructional Products. You’ll work across applications, frameworks, services, and content platforms to identify opportunities where AI-powered workflows can meaningfully improve quality, efficiency, and scalability.
You will prototype and productionize systems that leverage agentic coding workflows, automation pipelines, and AI-driven content processing to streamline development and publishing processes. Success in this role requires strong engineering fundamentals, systems thinking, and the ability to translate emerging technologies into reliable tools used by multiple teams.
This position combines hands-on software development with technical leadership, partnering closely with engineering, quality, design, and content teams to modernize workflows while maintaining Apple’s high standards for craftsmanship and user experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building tools that automate or enhance content creation, publishing, localization, or validation workflows.
Familiarity with LLM-powered systems, retrieval pipelines, or structured content transformation workflows.
Experience building internal platforms used by engineers, writers, or operational teams.
Background in developer experience (DevEx), CI/CD systems, or large-scale automation initiatives.
Passion for improving both engineering and content quality through intelligent tooling.
Minimum Qualifications
5 or more years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.
Hands-on experience using agentic systems to accelerate software development and/or operational workflows.
Strong programming expertise in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
Experience building modern web applications, APIs, or backend services.
Experience developing automation systems, developer tooling, or workflow platforms.
Experience designing scalable solutions that integrate across multiple systems and teams.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical partners.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving technical priorities.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses - including tuition.
