HHM Talent is assisting a client search for an Automotive Controller in the Charlotte, NC area.


Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to oversee the accounting operations for their dealership. This individual will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with OEM and accounting standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong dealership accounting experience, deep knowledge of dealership financial statements, and the ability to lead and develop an accounting team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all dealership accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and submit to the manufacturer within required deadlines
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, schedules, and bank statements
  • Ensure compliance with OEM reporting requirements and internal controls
  • Supervise and mentor accounting office staff including AP/AR clerks, title clerks, and accounting assistants
  • Manage floor plan reconciliations and lender relationships
  • Monitor dealership cash flow and maintain banking relationships
  • Assist ownership and executive leadership with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Support dealership operations with financial insight and reporting
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and CPA firms when necessary
  • Implement and maintain accounting processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications

  • Automotive dealership accounting experience
  • Experience with DealerTrack, CDK, or Reynolds & Reynolds
  • Proven ability to manage and develop accounting staff
