How much do ap ar payroll jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 23, 2026, the average hourly pay for ap ar payroll in the United States is $21.77, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.27 and $24.28 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the highest paying job in payroll?

In payroll, senior roles such as Payroll Manager or Payroll Director tend to have the highest salaries, often exceeding six figures with experience and certifications like CPP or FPC. These positions involve overseeing payroll operations, ensuring compliance, and managing teams, typically requiring advanced knowledge of payroll systems and regulations.

What pays more, AR or AP?

In accounting, Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) roles typically have similar pay ranges, but salaries can vary based on experience, location, and company size. Generally, AR positions may offer slightly higher pay due to their focus on revenue collection, while AP roles focus on expense management. Both roles require strong organizational skills and familiarity with accounting software.

Is AI replacing accounts payable?

For accounts payable (AP) professionals, AI is automating routine tasks such as invoice processing, data entry, and payment reconciliation, increasing efficiency. However, AP roles still require human oversight for exception handling, compliance, and strategic decision-making, so AI is seen as a tool to augment rather than replace AP jobs.

Is payroll considered AR or AP?

Payroll is neither Accounts Receivable (AR) nor Accounts Payable (AP); it is a separate function involving employee compensation processing. An AP AR Payroll professional manages payroll processing, ensuring accurate salary payments, tax deductions, and compliance. They typically use payroll software and have knowledge of payroll regulations and accounting principles.

What are AP AR Payroll jobs?

AP AR Payroll jobs refer to positions that handle Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Payroll functions within an organization. These professionals are responsible for managing outgoing payments to vendors, incoming payments from customers, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. The role typically involves processing invoices, reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, and maintaining compliance with financial regulations. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency with accounting software are essential for success in these roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AP/AR Payroll Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AP/AR Payroll Specialist, you need a solid understanding of accounting principles, payroll processing, and relevant financial regulations, often supported by an associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or ADP, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel, is typically required. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure accurate financial transactions, timely payroll processing, and compliance with legal requirements, which are vital for the organization's financial health.

What is the difference between Ap Ar Payroll vs Accounts Payable Specialist?

How do AP/AR Payroll professionals typically collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial processing?

AP/AR Payroll professionals often work closely with HR, finance, and operations teams to ensure that employee payments, vendor invoices, and customer receipts are processed accurately and on schedule. This collaboration involves regular communication to verify data, resolve discrepancies, and address any issues related to payroll, accounts payable, or receivable.
