Sentara Medical Group has a full-timeDayposition available for anAcute CareAdvanced Practice Provider to join theHospital Medicineteam atSentara Obici HospitalinSuffolk, VA.

The Hospital Medicine Program at Sentara Obici Hospital (175 beds) is a well-established and robust service, managing an average daily patient census of 75-85. The program is supported by a dedicated team of 14 physicians and 4 advanced practice providers (APPs).

Our teams are dedicated to cultivating an environment where every individual feels recognized, appreciated, and supported, enabling them to perform at their best for themselves and our patients. Our Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are essential to this foundation, and we seek to continue to grow their impact and scope of practice throughout our hospitals.

Highlights Include:

  • ICU Model: Open ICU with in-person Critical Care coverage from 7a-7p and eICU support overnight (7p-7a), Vent management is provided by the critical care team.

  • Schedule: 7 shifts per 14-day period using blocked schedule model

  • Admissions: Primary focus on rounding patients; limited admissions until the arrival of the admitting APP at 9pm

  • Admission distribution is shared evenly among the team, with an average of approximately two admissions per provider by 11am

  • No procedural or ICU responsibilities

  • Care primarily involves observation patients and selected low-acuity medical patients

  • Supervising physician at all times

  • $10,000 Commencement Bonus

  • Shift differential included

Qualifications:

  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) or Physician Assistant

  • Prior ICU nursing background preferred

  • Clinical rotation experience must include inpatient hospital medicine and/or intensive care experience
