Job description

Summary of Position

The Accounting Associate is an integral part of the accounting and finance team that oversees all accounting and finance matters for the church. The position will primarily be responsible for the accounts payable function within the department. The position will work closely with the Senior Accounting Associate to analyze and perform control procedures related to ensuring the accuracy of the church financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; a concentration in accounting is strongly preferred
  • 2+ years experience in an accounting or finance position
  • Critical thinker with proven record of process improvement
  • Unquestionable integrity
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, with a focus on Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • A member of the Summit Church or willing and able to become a member

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve all credit card transactions in third party system (Ramp) and function as Ramp specialist
    • Assist staff with any Ramp-related question and provide exceptional customer service
  • Set up new vendors and manage vendor database, including W9 verification
  • Maintain various accounts payable tasks
    • Printing checks at Brier Creek Office (Monday-Wednesday)
    • Pulling various vendor and spending reports
  • Input invoices for payment in third party bill pay system (Ramp) for various departments
  • Miscellaneous accounting tasks as assigned by Executive Director of Accounting and HR

Churchwide Events

The hours for this position are expected to be 40 hours per week. As one church that meets in many locations, there are several times throughout the year that Summit holds church-wide events in an effort to do whatever it takes to reach all people. All staff members are expected to serve at these church-wide events regardless of the positions they hold.

Such events include, but are not limited to: Easter services, church-wide prayer meetings, Good Friday service, and Christmas services. Serving expectations will be communicated in advance of each event.
